A beautiful bay with a wide promenade in Rapallo, Italy.

We spent 5 nights here at the Hotel Italia e Lido, by the castle which sadly, was shrouded as restoration works were taking place.

Our base to explore Cinque Terre, Portofino and La Spezia.

Interesting Stuff: when people asked where we were staying in Italy, after they heard we had travelled via the Cote d'Azur - very few (other than the Italians) had heard of #rapallo.

It's a fabulous town in a perfect location with ferry boat, public bus services and a main train station, which also serves Pisa.

We switched our initial plans just a few weeks before our departure date, cancelling the stay in La Spezia in favour of Rapallo to make the last part of our trip less hectic on the return to NCE airport via Genoa.

We're very happy to have made that choice, because we've now found another place to use for chilling out and relaxing - where we found a great rock bar that serves real ales and food.
