Here's a really cool flute: a High Spirits Triple 'Sparrow Hawk' in A made of Eastern aromatic cedar. As you'll notice, melodies are played on the center flute, and the left and right-side flutes are both drones. What's special about this is that the right-side drone has three holes which can be covered or uncovered with little leather straps. This allows the player to change the drone note. Here, it's set up so the right drone note is C. This is Part 1 of an improv based on a simple little thing of mine I call Harvest Dance (Don't ask why; it's just a name that popped out). I start out playing only the center flute, then I shift to the center plus left drone, center plus right drone, and then all three together (and my mouth sure looks goofy when I'm doing that!)Part 2 will be up shortly...
