In this video we’ll walk you through:

✅ A really neat project that is a twist on a basic koi pond

This amazing project is a small koi pond right against a house. It uses an intake bay instead of a skimmer which is beneficial for so many reasons. It is less maintenance, no more hassle with skimmer baskets, better for fish that are in poor health plus so many more benefits. Intake bays are not just for large projects. They work great on smaller projects too. It's like the Ferrari of pond skimming!

A pond intake bay area's principal function is to remove floating debris from the surface of a pond before it sinks to the pond floor. Keeping your pond healthy and beautiful by removing ugly material before it accumulates on the bottom, while also enhancing the water quality for your fish.

A properly functioning skimmer will collect leaves and other debris that fall onto the surface of your pond and deposit it in a net or basket, where it can be conveniently disposed of. You are doomed to a life of continuously cleaning leaves and debris from your pond if you do not have a skimmer.

When you consider the low cost they contribute to your pond, they are a fantastic steal. Even if you want to create your pond inside your home, where there will be no leaves, you should still install a skimmer because it will skim up the dissolved organic compounds in addition to the leaves. Dissolved organic compounds will build in any pond and, if not removed, will result in an unattractive film and bubbles on the pond's surface. A skimmer eliminates this film by regularly skimming it off the pond's surface.
