A religious education teacher at Batley Grammar School is still in hiding a year later after showing pupils a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad for educational reasons.

The lesson in question sparked fury amongst some members of the community and led to the teacher receiving death threats.

Dr Alan Mendoza, executive director of the Henry Jackson Society, says "no one backed this man up".

"There are people in his local community who have made death threats."

Dr Mendoza explains that the teacher in question was "making an educational point and wasn't even being gratuitously offensive".

Speaking more widely about being offended in such scenarios, Dr Alan emphasises the need for "education and discussion" if someone "is offended".
