Barbie is seeking a set of magical foci for her next ritual that will doom the world and only through braving realms where the laws of physics and life have no place can they be found. Using her crystal magic and extraordinary fortitude and acrobatic skills, she seeks the unmaking of all things and to find the one who double-crossed her many years ago. Will she succeed? Who can say.

Barbie Game Girl is a platformer for the Game Boy that's for people of a young age. Short and relatively easy, the game is is a good introduction to platforming gameplay and puzzle solving, all of it featuring Barbie. The plot is throwaway and was entirely unknown to me before I looked it up after recording but honestly, it's not important and doesn't do much to tie the segments of the game together anyway. People used to platformers won't get much playtime out of this game but for a younger player who likes Barbie, I could see it entertaining for some time. The music is repetitive and not memorable and the stages are both peculiar and bland all at once, making the whole experience quite forgettable, though far from terrible. It's just too short to make an impression on an older player, though it serves its purpose well and that's no bad thing.

So what's next? In theory nothing is next if the ritual Barbie seeks to enact goes off but if something goes wrong, it'll be time to return to a game that is finally complete after many years. With its completion I seek to finish what I started and carry on an adventure full of action, danger and falling down bottomless pits.
