Potato is the most important vegetable crop of Punjab and if not managed properly, weed interfere drastically with its growth and production. Deela (Cyperus rotundus) is considered as a difficult-to-control weed in potato crop particularly in case when it is planted after autumn maize. Farmers use S metolachlor as pre emergence herbicide, it controls among the rows but it cannot effectively control it at the top of potato ridges.
Potato is a high fertilizer requiring crop and commonly 100 kg each of DAP, SOP and 150-200 kg urea is added for better yield and production per acre. These fertilizers have become more costly and we have suggested an alternate schedule of acidic fertilizers of Swat Agro Chemicals in this
video. Addition of 10 kg Orgevit at sowing, flooding of 12.5 kg 16:22:23 plus 500 gram Headland multi plus 25 kg urea at 10% emergence, spray of Speedfol-P at complete emergence, spray of one kg Speedfol N plus flooding of 12.5 kg 16:22:23 plus 25 kg urea at 35 days after planting, third time
flooding of 12.5 kg 16:22:23 plus 25 kg urea at 45-50 days, flooding of 12.5 kg 13:02:43 at 65-70 days, spray of one kg Speedfol K at 85-90 day, one kg Speedfol K again at 100, 110 days plus spray of 250 ml Bordox Super @ 250 ml/acre has been suggested.

Production technology of crops relies heavily on the local weather conditions of an area. Suitable weather conditions support the higher yield and production of different crops. Despite of using lesser amount of fertilizers like dap , sop and urea fertilizer, rain water compensates the deficiency of different major micro nutrients.
