Like with Chapter 1 of Battle of Evolution I will be doing a bunch of Stage Spotlights to highlight individual stages that I found to be the best. For each Chapter that I plan to release (Chapter 2, 3 and 4) I will release a total of 10 Stage Spotlights for each to showcase the 10 best stages of each chapter.

Chapter 3's first stage is Rome!

Rome is an extremely simple (in terms of enemy dynamics) early stage that is very "satisfying" to play.

It features 5 Crazed Fish Bosses with some Killer Cats and Tank Killer Cats and all of the Alien enemies encounter so far as support.

With each Crazed Fish that spawns more and more support comes out. For instance the first Crazed Fish is only supported by Shibaliens, Kroxos and Hyppohs, while the second Crazed Fish is supported by the previous mentioned enemies along with Imperator Seal, Maawth and Killer Cats. This process keeps going all the way to the fifth Crazed Cat that will be backed by dangerous enemies like Cyberhorns, Ursamajors and Scissoroos.

This means that the player will need to buildup enough of a force early on so they can withstand the constant increase in pressure while making sure they can deal enough damage to defeat the Crazed Fish. If the player fails to defeat the Crazed Fish fast enough (if 2 or more Crazed Fish are attacking at once the frontline will start to collapse faster than it can be reinforced) or fails to create a good defense at the beginning (causing the player to never establish a frontline and falling back very early due to his) they will get a game over quite quickly.

This creates a fun dynamic despite the stage's simplicity and having the player gradually build up and the enemy gradually build up to make the pressure increase by quite a lot by the time of the 5th Crazed Fish is really fun to play. It also showcases the strength of the Alien enemies as support, as without them the Crazed Fish are just some tanky units that can be easily stalled, but due to the supporting Aliens it makes the fight dynamic.

For this reason I believe it deserves a Stage Spotlight.
