Candling seeds is an important step before you donate your seeds to the RHS Lily Group.
By putting seeds over a light-box you can see the embryos, so you are sure that your seeds are all viable before donating or sowing them.
Sometimes only 20-35 % of crosses contain embryos, so you can know before sowing seeds which crosses were successful.
