A new amber flood alert has been issued in Greater Manchester as the region feels the effects of Storm Bram. Downpours battered Greater Manchester overnight and on Tuesday morning (December 9), while gusty winds are affecting parts of the UK.

The Environment Agency issued two amber flood alerts for Greater Manchester earlier today, across the upper and lower River Irwell catchments. It has since removed the alert for upper River Irwell catchment, but added a new amber alert for the middle River Mersey catchment.

The new alert covers areas including Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston. An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Rising river levels today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible on December 9, 2025.
