✓ Ever wondered how sugar is made, where it comes from, who are the people who work and tend to the sugar cane crops?

We are very much humbled and take a bow to all these guys, who work and live in intolerable conditions just to earn a living and do it on a daily basis without complaining, just so we can have sugar on our kitchen table.

This is a brief encounter with the field workers who seasonally migrate to pick the sugar cane crops - these guys work in scorching heat where the midday temperatures can regularly be around 36 degrees centigrade. They literally earn just pennies (or a few cents) a day. Whoever thinks that this is equivalent to slave labour would not be far wrong...........because the "fatcat" land owners get fatter and richer and the workers stay poor and thin, can that be right in the supposedly civilised world that we live in today ???
