Описание к видео 12-year-old drag queen performs at local pride event 👑 | SWNS

A 12-year-old schoolboy has launched a career as a drag queen appearing in front of crowds alongside TV stars and taking a local pride event by storm - just like the hit West End stage show Everybody's Talking About Jamie.

Miles Pullman, who performs under the name Miss Oatie T, has the support of his mum and family to pursue his dream of becoming a drag superstar.

Just like Jamie Campbell - the subject of a 2011 documentary that was then turned into a musical about a 16-year-old in County Durham who takes up drag - Miles has taken the plunge and revealed his persona to the world.

On the surface Miles looks like your average 12-year-old boy, but after school his life could not be more different to his peers.

While many young boys dream of becoming professional football players or e-sports stars playing video games when the school bell rings, Miles perfects his artistry in dance, make-up and mixing music tracks for future performances.

Make-up, dresses, wigs and body padding all contribute to a complete transformation into 'Miss Oatie T' - his drag persona that has quickly captured the hearts of industry leaders.

He first went out in public in full head-to-toe drag last month wearing a pink wig and black dress, becoming an attraction of his own at Glitterbomb in the Park in Maidstone, Kent - a ticketed festival for the LGBTQ+ community.

From that first appearance as Miss Oatie T, Miles caught the attention of businessman Duncan Bayles, who owns Sundowners Bar in nearby Margate.

He booked Miles for his first performance just a day later and Miss Oatie T made her debut to a small and exclusive crowd at the LGBTQ+ venue, but word soon started to spread on social media.

The Sundowners Bar has been one of Miles' biggest supporters and soon invited him back to meet stars of the BBC hit show RuPaul's Drag Race UK - The Vivienne and Cheryl Hole - at Netflix's live tour when they performed at the venue last week.

Watching his favourite performers from the front row with his mum Nicola, Miles would never have believed just  weeks later he would be sharing a stage with some of the UK's greatest drag artists.

But Mr Bayles persuaded organisers at Canterbury Pride to give the newcomer a slot on the main bandstand.

With Miss Oatie T sandwiched between drag race heavyweights Cheryl Hole and Baga Chipz, plus headliners boy band 5ive, Dane John Gardens in the city was filled with thousands of excited drag fans.

Backstage after his first major gig on Saturday, Miles said he has always been Miss Oatie T, but only recently built the confidence to take her out of the four walls of his home Broadstairs, Kent.

He said: "Miss Oatie T is my drag persona which has come across mainly in 2021. I've been her all my life, but I've started to see her coming out more in 2021.

"Mostly everyone really likes Miss Oatie T, but then there are the odd couple of people who say no I don't like that at all."

Before his performance Miles revealed that despite his calm exterior, he was nervous for the massive performance ahead of him.

His mum was also anxious about the performance, adding backstage wearing freshly designed 'Miss Oatie T' official merchandise: "I'm an absolute wreck. He hates any input that I have with him at all.

"I am his worst critic but I'm going in there blind. I have no idea what he is going to do on stage today."

For many parents, the nerves would extend to fears of bullying and nasty comments online or at school, but Nicola said so far there have not been any real problems.

Thinking back to not too long ago when Miles was a small child, his mum said a love for Michael Jackson may have been a catalyst in the creation of the mini drag superstar.

She laughed: "He always had a Michael Jackson wig on his head and loved a lipstick. He started doing make-up properly when he was about five.

"I have no 'normal' baby pictures of Miles really. He has always been over the top."
