The RAF Harrier force based at Gutersloh in West Germany during the 1980s, would deploy to sites in the farmland, away from their air bases to carry out training. This is some video I filmed on a JVC camcorder in 1986. Gutersloh was the closest RAF base to East Germany. During the cold war 10 Field Squadron Royal Engineers built the mobile harrier sites, then the Harrier force would deploy into the field, the clear up after the exercise was a big job also.
