#Hyperscale data centers are being announced every week, and some of these are specifically for accelerated compute.

edge compute do not get the type of announcement that hyperscale do due to the relative scale, but edge compute, and especially edge #hpc are probably more important than a country wide hyperscale, when it comes to invention and innovation.

edge compute and #EdgeHPC enable a localized compute for industry, #universities and #localgovernment of all sizes.

the ability to experiment, with all three stakeholders, quickly, and cheaply means smart city tech is relevant to the challenge statements for that city.

for instance, should the world suffer another coronavirus type #pandemic then by having edge compute the local authorities can better manage their local situation better by being able to analyze the population, and also deliver services relevant to that city – rather than the uniform approach that hyper scalers (who may not be in the same city) or the public cloud can offer.

edge compute works in tandem with the local #telco operator and the national level #hyperscaler, so there is more functionality and feature rich services. Edge compute can now work in real-time – inference – but still offload training, perhaps using data from multiple edges, and aggregate the into the #hyperscaler for updating the trained model.
