This PotomacBeads tutorial is a great intro into the world of knotting. Allie shares her tips and tricks along the way to create this beautiful Amber Chip Knotted necklace.

Take the silk cord off the card and stretch it out by hand. Make a knot in the end to keep it from fraying. Make a knot about 10 inches up from the end. Thread on a pattern of 1 crystal, an amber chip and another crystal. Tie another knot against the beads. Tie another knot about a quarter of an inch up from the last bead.

Once all the strands are finished, line them up how you would like them to hang as a layered necklace. Tie an overhand knot with all four strands on both ends. Braid the ends and add a lobster clasp by knotting it on. Put a dab of glue on the knot. On the other end, tie a small loop with the strands for the lobster clasp.
