In verses 41 to 46 of Chapter 1 of the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna reveals the peak of his emotional turmoil. He speaks of the terrible consequences of war—not just the loss of life, but the moral and spiritual degradation that follows. When the family traditions (kula-dharmas) are destroyed by war, dharma (righteousness) collapses. Women in the families become vulnerable, and society produces varna-sankara—unwanted, unrighteous progeny, leading to a collapse of social and spiritual order.

Arjuna foresees that those born into such chaos will not follow Vedic values, leading to eternal damnation (naraka) for both the living and the dead. The legacy of sin, according to him, becomes unbearable.

By verse 46, Arjuna is broken. He says it would be better to die unarmed on the battlefield, slain by his enemies, than to kill his own kin for power and pleasure. He then drops his bow and arrows, unable to fight, his heart shattered.

This moment is one of the most emotional turning points in the entire Bhagavad Gita—the heroic warrior, frozen by compassion, sorrow, and confusion.
भगवद गीता अध्याय 1 श्लोक 41 से 46 तक अर्जुन के हृदय की गहराइयों से निकली हुई पीड़ा को दर्शाते हैं। अर्जुन देखता है कि युद्ध केवल शरीरों का विनाश नहीं है, बल्कि यह कुलधर्म (family traditions), संस्कार, और धर्म का भी अंत है। जब कुल का नाश होता है, तो स्त्रियाँ दूषित होती हैं और समाज में वर्णसंकर संतान (varna sankar) पैदा होती है, जो अधर्म और नरक का कारण बनती हैं।

अर्जुन कहता है कि यदि हम अपने ही स्वजनों की हत्या केवल राज्यसुख के लिए करते हैं, तो यह महापाप होगा। वह यहाँ कर्म के सिद्धांत, जीवन-मूल्य, और धर्म संकट पर प्रश्न उठाता है।

श्लोक 46 में अर्जुन पूरी तरह से टूट चुका है। वह कहता है कि यदि धृतराष्ट्र के पुत्र मुझे युद्ध में निहत्था मार दें, तो वह मुझे अधिक कल्याणकारी लगेगा, बजाय इसके कि मैं अपने ही बंधु-बांधवों की हत्या करूं। और इतना कहकर वह धनुष-बाण त्यागकर अपने रथ में बैठ जाता है, उसका मन शोक से व्यथित होता है।
यह वही क्षण है जब वीर अर्जुन भी धर्मसंकट में फंस गया। क्या आप भी कभी किसी निर्णय को लेकर इतने टूटे हैं कि हाथ से सब कुछ गिरा दिया हो?
