Capelin Baitfish Pattern

The Capelin baitfish is a small forage fish of the smelt family, its found in the North Atlantic, North Pacific and Arctic Oceans all kinds of cold saltwater game fish feed on these fish especially all the Pacific Salmon and Steelhead in the Pacific and Atlantic Salmon and Sea Run Brook Trout in the Atlantic.
The Capelin spawn on sandy and gravel beaches and estuaries from mid April to the end of July.

Hook: Saltwater Streamer Hook size 2
Thread: Semperfli Nano Silk 18/0 white
Tail Wing: White Polar Fiber, White N’ Flash Pearl fibers, Grey Polar Fiber, Black Polar Fiber, Wing N’ Flash Purple
Underbody: Metallic Tape (trimmed belly shape)
Body: Medium Silver Mylar
Eyes: 6mm 3D eyes mounted between 85lb test monofilament.
Mid Wing: White Polar Fiber, Grey Polar Fiber, Black Polar Fiber, Wing N’ Flash purple
Dubbing around the Eyes: Silver Ice Dub
Wing in Front of the Eyes: White Polar Fiber, Black Polar Fiber and Wing N’ Flash Purple
Collar behind the Eyes: Red Thread
Lateral Line: Light Blue Crinkle Flash
Dubbing in front of the Eyes: Red and Blue Ice Dub
Main Wing: “Wing N’ Flash” black fibers, White Polar Fiber and Black Polar Fiber
Side Wing: Two Silver Badger Hackle Tips
Topping: Six Strand of Dyed Olive Peacock Herl
