As a consistent honor student and recipient of a national science scholarship, I stood at the pinnacle of academic achievement, accepted into an engineering quota course at the esteemed top state university in the Philippines. Yet amidst the gathering of like-minded achievers, I longed for a different kind of belonging—the company of deviants who reveled in heavy music, smoked cigarettes, and drank at parking lots.👌

Slapshock's 'Get Away' became the soundtrack to my transformation—a powerful anthem that resonated with my deepest struggles. Battling weight issues and wrestling with my own mind, their music helped me find solace and strength. Through meditation on long walks and clandestine sessions in the varsity gym (where I befriended the guard for free access), I channeled my frustrations into resilience. Slapshock provided the driving force that propelled me forward.🔥

Today, behind the drums, I wear my #BogartBodyShirt—a testament to my journey of self-acceptance. Though I may not fully love my body, I've made significant progress in embracing and celebrating it, serving as a beacon of hope for those who share similar struggles, a reminder that we can find joy and pride amidst our battles.🫡
