Poet William Wordsworth was one of the driving forces in the Romantic age of poetry in English literature. Born in 1770, he would become Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom, dying in 1850.

This video is an oral reading of a collection of his most enigmatic poems, popularly called the "Lucy poems". Scholars debate to this day the identity of the "Lucy" mentioned, as the age of "Lucy" appears to shift between poems. Most would argue that "Lucy" is not a person at all, but a representation, the vehicle by which Wordsworth makes his point in each poem.

As far as personal opinion, it is entirely possible that "Lucy" is both a representation of idea and one or more persons that Wordsworth loved; for instance, she could serve as a proxy for the woman Wordsworth longed to marry and couldn't due to the French Revolution (Annette Vallon) and their daughter Caroline that he barely knew.
