Legends of the Deep: The Lusca and the Blue Holes of Andros | Monster Story

The Lusca is a marine cryptid commonly reported in the Caribbean Sea, particularly around the Bahamas. It is often described as a massive octopus or a giant cuttlefish, although some folklore and eyewitness accounts depict it as a chimeric creature with features of both an octopus and a shark. The Lusca is most closely associated with the blue holes—deep marine sinkholes found in the Bahamas—but is also said to inhabit "banana holes," which are brackish inland pools connected to the sea. Locals have attributed mysterious disappearances and deaths within these waters to the Lusca. Despite numerous cryptozoological expeditions since the late 20th century, searches for the creature have remained unsuccessful.
