Day 6 – February 1, 2023
Lieutenant Britt Dove of SLED resumes his testimony from the previous day, first finishing up a couple points about Maggie’s phone. He then begins to review Alex Murdaugh’s phone, which was taken into custody in September of 2021, 3 months after the murder. Upon reviewing the call logs from the phone itself, it showed that many calls between the end of May to mid-June are deleted. When reviewing Alex Murdaugh’s Apple Health Data on the night of June 7th, steps activity is consistently logged between 6:02PM and 8:10PM. The phone detects no motion for almost an hour until it records a high number of steps between 9:02-9:07PM.

Paul’s Phone is brought into evidence, received by Britt Dove on August 13th, 2021. He reviews Paul’s final calls, texts, and movements recorded by his device in the moments leading up to the murder. Key points of data show Paul’s last steps being recorded at 8:42PM and last text messages read at 8:49PM. Only 36 seconds after reading this text, he receives a text from Rogan that goes unread.

At the very end of direct examination, Lt. Dove reveals the only piece of media found around the time of the murders: the infamous video (recorded at 8:45PM) of the chocolate lab, Cash, of which he intended to send to his friend Rogan Gibson.
