Описание к видео Corporates Turning Employees Into Modern-Day Slaves | Work | Job | Camera

Employees forced to keep their webcams on for their entire working hours — this was the shocking condition imposed on a candidate by a US-based company after handing over the offer letter. The condition was placed before an engineering final-year student who was excited at the prospect of securing a coveted American white-collar job, offering an annual salary of ₹12 lakhs. It was, after all, his first job.
But how could anyone accept being made to work like a slave under the watchful eye of a camera every moment? The student grew anxious and ultimately declined the offer, unwilling to trade his self-respect for corporate servitude.
Here’s the most intriguing part: both the employees and the top brass of this company are Indians — some working remotely from India, others settled in the US. So, how can one hope to escape such oppressive work cultures when fellow Indians themselves enforce them?
Why do we Indians have this problem? In many offices, CCTV cameras often seem less about security and more about monitoring what colleagues are doing. Supervisors have their own loyal “watchdogs.” Some can’t rest without constantly checking whether the person in the next cubicle is genuinely working. They meticulously track even the minutes a colleague spends away in the restroom. And they’ll readily report it all.
In reality, many people are terrified even to breathe freely in offices. Often, it’s not just the bosses they fear, but toxic co-workers who spew venom. For some, this anxiety grows into panic attacks. Yet they endure it all because they need the money and have families who rely on them.
One by one, corporate companies squeeze out personal freedom, peace, happiness, and health, turning people into virtual slaves. In these places, humanity, compassion, and sincerity carry no value.
