It was about time I talked about Vlad the Impaler, aka Vlad Dracula, aka Vlad Tapes, aka Vlad III, Voivode of Walachia. Is the inspiration behind Dracula the evil men many historians paint him as, or... is it all a matter of perspective? The facts are that Vlad the Impaler defended Walachia against the ever-growing Ottoman Empire, and, he did it with a violent ferocity that was... as scary as it is legendary. Supposedly, he impaled around 30,000 people, but there is way more to his life than just his favorite form of execution.

Notes:
This was one of my favorite videos to write, research and edit. Vlad Dracula's story is super interesting because... it is controversial. This is such a case of 'it depends on which side you're on', in terms of whether you want to classify Vlad as a national hero or a menace. Was he objectively extremely violent in his methods? Of course, no doubt. Were his methods objectively effective? Of course, no doubt.
Ultimately I don't want to give a moral verdict on the man, I just wanted to tell the tale of Vlad the Impaler — you make up your mind on how you feel about the guy.

Some things I wanted to note about the video:
First of all, I consistently pronounce Stephen the Great wrong. It's Stephen with a 'ph' but I pronounce it as a 'v'.
Also, I wanted to include that Vlad Dracula lined the roads leading to Walachia with impaled bodies, when he knew the Ottoman Empire was coming to attack... I just forgot to put that in the video, so at least I wanted to mention it here.

Other than that... nothing to add.

The opening scene is from the movie 'Dracula Untold'.
