Turkey: Security barriers pushed down by protesters

Thousands of demonstrators started to break down security barriers around the Silivri prison compound, which erupted in destruction at the high-level security prison.

Police responded with water cannons and rounds of tear gas while protesters threw boulders at the mass riot police and gendarmerie. The police then managed to push people back and put the security barriers back up.

Supporters for inmates in Silivri prison compound, where the "Ergenekon" trial has been ongoing, have been protesting since early Morning to show solidarity for the 300 inmates on trial.
