New Jersey Future strives to make communities stronger, healthier, and more resilient for everyone through our work in the areas of appropriate infrastructure investment, smart local redevelopment, climate change resilience, and coordinated state-level planning.

Since 2002, New Jersey Future’s Smart Growth Awards has honored adopted plans and approved and built developments that exemplify sound land-use practice through the implementation of smart-growth principles. The awards shine a well-deserved spotlight on the municipal officials, developers, contractors, architects, and corporations with the courage to initiate projects and growth patterns that help strengthen New Jersey’s economic, social equity, and environmental future.

2022 marked the 20th anniversary of New Jersey Future’s Smart Growth Awards. The celebration honored six incredible winning projects and our two Cary Edwards Leadership Award winners for their groundbreaking contributions to making New Jersey communities sustainable and strong. It is an honor for New Jersey Future to acknowledge these projects and their teams this unique year and the impacts they have had in building community.
