Step-Father of Accused Killer Teen Details Relationship Prior to Horrifying Murder

As the trial against Carly Gregg continued on Tuesday afternoon, her step-father, Heath Smylie took the stand to give his testimony on his relationship with Carly and her mother prior to the gruesome murder. Smylie said he thought he had a good relationship with Carly, and he enjoyed being her step-dad. Things seemed to quickly take a turn for Carly’s mental health allegedly leading her to commit the murder.

Fifteen-year-old Carly Gregg is accused of brutally murdering her mother and attempting to murder her stepfather in March of 2024. Gregg allegedly shot her mother in the face numerous times inside their Mississippi home before she's accused of calling her friend over to show her the gruesome scene. If convicted, Gregg faces life behind bars.
