All good things must come to an end, SLPeeps and it seems we’ve finally reached the end of our Sound Series.

I truly did have “The Time of My Life” bringing these videos to you all and sharing how you can use my Nonverbal No More hand cues to help your child say new sounds. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

But hold on, the fun isn’t over quite yet! We still have one more set of adorable sound buddies to talk about today, the “th” sound.

You might be thinking, “But wait, Rebecca. I thought Sound Buddies were pairs of sounds. That’s only one sound.”

Au contraire mon frère (simply put...On the contrary, my friend )

While “th” seems like it’s a single sound based on how we spell in the English language, it’s actually two different sounds. Let’s try it out. Ready?

Say, “think” but pay attention to how your tongue feels when you say the “th” sound. Go ahead. I’ll wait…

Now say, “that” and pay attention to how your tongue feels when you say the “th” sound.

Notice a difference? Of course you did!

You probably noticed that your tongue vibrated when you said “that” but didn’t vibrate when you said “think”. (Go ahead. Try it again. You know you want to. 😉)

There ya go. That’s why “th” is a Sound Buddy because it’s actually two different sounds. One is voiced and the other is not, just as all true Sound Buddies should be. 👬🏼
