যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মহাকাশ গবেষণা সংস্থা 'নাসা'র স্পেস অ্যাপ চ্যালেঞ্জ-২০১৮'র বেস্ট ইউজেস অব ডেটা ক্যাটাগরিতে চ্যাম্পিয়ন হয়েছে সিলেটের শাহজালাল বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের টিম 'অলিক'। সারা বিশ্বের ২ হাজারের বেশি দলকে হারিয়ে এই মুকুট অর্জন করে বাংলাদেশের দলটি। আজ নাসা থেকে পুরস্কার গ্রহণ করার কথা ছিল টিম অলীকের ৫ সদস্যের। কিন্তু ভিসা না পাওয়ায় যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে যেতে পারেননি তারা। অথচ তাদের অর্জিত পুরস্কার গ্রহণ অনুষ্ঠানে অংশ নিতে ভিসা পেয়েছেন আইসিটি মন্ত্রণালয় ও বেসিসের কর্মকর্তারা।

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের মহাকাশ গবেষণা সংস্থা নাসা প্রতিবছর 'নাসা স্পেস অ্যাপ চ্যালেঞ্জ' প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করে। এই প্রতিযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশ থেকে ২ হাজারের মতো টিম অংশ নেয়। সেখান থেকে ৪০টি টিম বাছাই করে গত বছরের অক্টোবরে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় হ্যাকাথন।

চূড়ান্ত প্রতিযোগিতায় সারা বিশ্বের সহস্রাধিক প্রতিযোগীর সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের ৮টি টিম প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করে। শেষ পর্যন্ত বেস্ট ইউজেস অব ডেটা ক্যাটাগরিতে চ্যাম্পিয়ন হয় শাহজালাল বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের টিম 'অলিক'।

টিমের সদস্য এস.এম. রাফি আদনান বলেন, 'নাসা সেন্টারে এক্সপার্টদের সামনে গিয়ে আমাদের প্রজেক্টটা প্রেজেন্ট করা-এটাই ছিলো বড় পুরষ্কার।'

অলিকের লুনার ভি আর প্রজেক্টটি ছিল মূলত একটি ভার্চুয়াল রিয়েলিটি অ্যাপলিকেশন। এই অ্যাপের মাধ্যমে চাঁদে ভ্রমণের অভিজ্ঞতা পাওয়া যায়। বিজয়ীদের নিয়ে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ফ্লোরিডার নাসা কেনেডি স্পেস সেন্টারে চলছে অনুষ্ঠান। মঙ্গলবার সেখান থেকে পুরস্কার গ্রহণের কথা ছিল টিম অলিকের। কিন্তু ভিসা না পাওয়ায় যেতে পারেনি তারা।

Aliq, a team of Shahjalal Science and Technology University in Sylhet, has been championed in the Best Usage of Data category of NASA's Space App Challenge-25, a space research company. Bangladesh won the crown by defeating more than 2,000 teams from all over the world. Today, Team Alike was to receive the award from NASA. But they could not go to the United States without getting a visa. However, officials of ICT ministries and bases have been granted visas to participate in the awards ceremony.

NASA hosts the 'NASA Space App Challenge' competition every year. More than 2,000 teams from Bangladesh participated in this competition. The Hackathon was held in October of last year, with six teams selected.

In the final competition, 4 teams from Bangladesh compete with thousands of competitors from all over the world. Shahjalal University of Science and Technology team 'Alik' ​​was eventually championed in the Best Usage of Data category.

Team Member S.M. Rafi Adnan said, "Presenting our project in front of the Experts at the NASA Center was a great reward."

Aulik's Lunar VR project was essentially a virtual reality application. Experience the journey of the moon through this app. The event will be held at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA. Tim Alik was supposed to receive the award on Tuesday. But they could not go without getting a visa.
