Red Hot Poker Plant - Love It or Hate It ?

The Red Hot Poker Plant is a wonderful drought-tolerant specimen plant that is so dramatic in the garden. But it is so fleeting. It seems the "torch" goes out too quickly and the rest of the bloom time is sort of ratty. What do you think? Do you grow this plant?
