VOLVO 740 T5 ENGINE SWAP - Part 4 - Paint engine with Por-15
In this Part 4 of the Volvo 740 T5 swap series we get the B5254T Volvo 5-cylinder turbo aluminium engine painted with Por-15 engine enamel paint and i also show you guys how i got there with some soda blasting and por-15 metal prep.

- First off, let med be very clear on one thing. I have a colour blindness defect called Protanomali and it makes it hard for me to judge red colour in perticular. So the fact that i own a red car and painting a red engine is somewhat questionable...
Anyway, to me, the engine looks pinkish red. My wife painted our television room light gray and i immediately commented her on it asking why she painted the room pink... So its pretty bad i guess :) :)

The paint didden't do what i am used to Por-15 paint doing, I have painted with Por-15 many times but this one was different. It was thicker, you couldent use it as casual as i was used to. So the painting part kind of failed and i went with using wrinkle paint on the cylinder head to try to save the day.

A big factor can be that this is a very rough surface and the paint seems to act very different on a rough finish surface insted of the flat surface i was used to and have previous experience with. Also the paint brushes dissolved while the painting the engine. Brushes that should withstand oil based paints.

I do blame myself for the outcome of this engine repaint due to inexperience with the engine enamel paint. If i were to do it again i would use a lighter coat and different brushes with a higher quality and do several thin layers, maybe even spraying the paint with a paintgun.

But lets not forget - THIS IN NOT THE FINAL ENGINE of this build. This is more or less a test to see what works and what doesnt. When we build the real engine we will apply what we lerned from this build in order to make that one perfect.

I know the "wrinkle look" does not appeal to everyone, but i promise you I will make this work, no matter how bad it seems to be getting right now. With a painted coil cover and camgear cover it will work :) -- But please comment, i would like to read your thoughts on the unexpected ending :D
