A list of the best European national football teams since the first competition is presented. European teams began competing at Football at the Summer Olympics in 1900. In 1930, FIFA organized the first FIFA World Cup. Then in 1960 UEFA organized the European Championship. In 1985, France, as European winners, played Uruguay, winners of the Copa América. This tournament has different names: Finalissima, Grand Final, CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, Artemio Franchi Cup.
In 1992, the FIFA Confederations Cup tournament was organized. And one of the young tournaments where European national teams play is the UEFA Nations League. The ranking was compiled from the winners of these tournaments.
