What made Exar Kun’s lightsaber so unique and powerful?

Constructed 4000 years before the Clone Wars, Kun redesigned his lightsaber when he became a Dark Lord of the Sith using instructions hidden inside an antique Sith holocron.

The weapon, thought to be the first double-bladed lightsaber, was imbued with Kun’s dark side energy. These negative energies corrupted the weak-willed to the dark side and unsettled Jedi opponents.

The saber’s innovative design contained variable length blade emitters, allowing them to transition from lengths of 0.5 to 1.5 meters. The blades were also capable of slicing through lightsaber resistant materials, including beskar armor.

Kun was defeated at the end of the Jedi Sith War, his lightsaber lost on the planet Yavin 4. Decades later the Jedi Covenant – a secret subsect of the Jedi Order dedicated to preventing the spread of Sith influence – discovered the weapon and encased it in a protective resin to limit its dark side influence.
