Guy Mariano - Populist 2014

If you speak with anyone who knew Guy Mariano as a young skater, they’ll tell you that he was constantly progressing and inspiring others to progress. His legacy of skate clips is commemorated in Colin Kennedy’s Life On Video series, and he’s refreshingly open about his appreciation for skateboarding and his place in its history. Guy’s career is a testament to how unbelievably difficult it is for a passionate skater to pull back from the scene for any length of time; in the long run, the raw, complex feeling of skating and learning is just too powerful to ignore. Life On Video culminates in part 5 with an edit that may be his strongest work to date — if you’re not counting his ridiculously insane Bangin' or the mind-blowing NBDs he casually releases on Instagram. You just can’t keep a good Guy down.
