Why We Celebrate Diwali -

Diwali is a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs. It commemorates the return of Lord Rama to the city of Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. The people of Ayodhya lit diyas throughout the city to welcome him back.
Diwali is linked to the ancient legend of Lord Rama. His evil stepmother plotted to deprive him of his kingdom and send him into exile for 14 years. During his exile, Rama defeated the evil spirit Ravana and rescued his wife Sita, an incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi, who had been kidnapped by Ravana.

Why We Celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas -

Bandi Chhor Diwas is an important festival of the Sikh community. It is celebrated as Diwali. In the year 2024, this day will be celebrated on 01 November.
Bandi Chhod Diwas is related to the sixth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Hargobind Singh. It is believed that on this day Jahangir released Guru Hargobind Singh. According to history, Jahangir had imprisoned Guru Hargobind Singh in the fort of Gwalior for about two years and three months.
This day is also celebrated as 'Donor Bandi Chhod Diwas'. Sant Baba Amar Singh Ji had established the Gurudwara in 1968 in the memory of Guru Hargobind Singh.
For Sikhs, Diwali is the story of the struggle for freedom. It celebrates the victory of the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind, over the conspiracies of Emperor Jahangir.
