Mrs Warboys being a tactless, well-meaning gossipmonger for over 19 minutes | One Foot in the Grave

In memory of Doreen Mantle who died earlier this month (9 August) at the grand old age of 97, here is a compilation of her best moments as Mrs Warboys in timeless '90s sitcom One Foot in the Grave.

She was, in my opinion, one of the greatest ever supporting characters in a sitcom - a wonderful foil for Victor Meldrew in his battle against the scourges of society. The way in which she could be so insensitive when discussing things in front of her best friend Margaret - such as the standard of her cooking - as well as gossip freely about her neighbours' personal lives to all and sundry - and react nonchalantly to blantant mistakes she has made, such as bringing Victor back a gorilla costume from the dry cleaners instead of his suit without being even remotely suspcious that it wasn't the correct outfit - meant she had some of the best scenes and one-liners in the show's history.
