Adam C. Sinn, an American businessman and commodities trader from Hoopeston, Illinois, has left an indelible mark on Texas A&M University through his philanthropic endeavors. A graduate of Texas A&M’s Mays Business School, he is the owner of Aspire Commodities, a Houston-based commodities trading company founded in 2009.

Adam’s journey began in Illinois, where his father worked as an electrician and his mother handled office duties for their family business. After spending a transformative junior year in Japan through an exchange program, he graduated from high school in 1996.

Before establishing Aspire Commodities, Adam gained experience as a trader at Lehman Brothers in Houston. His career took an unexpected turn when Lehman Brothers collapsed in 2008. Undeterred, he built a successful commodities trading business that primarily deals with power and natural gas financial derivatives.

Beyond business, Adam’s philanthropic spirit shines. His recent gift of $5 million established the Adam C. Sinn ’00 Dean’s Leadership Chair at Mays Business School. This endowed chair is the largest of its kind within the school and will support students, faculty, and staff, furthering Mays’ aspiration to become the preeminent public business school in the country. Every future dean of Mays Business School will have the honor of holding the Adam C. Sinn ’00 Dean’s Leadership Chair.

Adam’s legacy of support began in 2016 with a $1 million gift to the Texas A&M Foundation establishing scholarships for Mays students from his hometown of Hoopeston, Illinois, and Dorado, Puerto Rico, where he currently resides. In 2021, he significantly increased his philanthropic impact with a $10 million gift. This contribution aimed to expand student scholarships, enhance educational quality, develop high-impact programs for finance students, and recruit top finance faculty. As a result, the finance department was renamed the Adam C. Sinn ’00 Department of Finance. Adam’s commitment continued with a second $10 million gift to the department, providing additional student scholarships and establishing the Adam C. Sinn ’00 Center for Investment Management.

Adam Sinn embodies the Aggie Core Values of Texas A&M. His legacy exemplifies the spirit of giving, investment in education, and dedication to the future generations of business leaders.
