As one of the largest industries in the world, education (about 6 percent of global GDP) leaves a lot of room for digitalization. Today, about $250 billion is spent annually on educational technologies in the world - and this is only 4% of the entire educational services market. The annual growth of the digital part in the structure of the entire industry is, according to various estimates, 15 to 20 percent.
The COVID-19 pandemic gave a great kick to the development of educational technologies, and experts hope that this effect will be long-term.
Until the beginning of this year, the Russian EdTech market was growing, outpacing the global pace. Caution in its further development is expressed by most of the main market players today. Some of them insist that the existing margin of safety and reliability will allow Russian services to compensate for the withdrawal of foreign companies from the market.
The positive forecast is associated, among other things, with the development of educational projects aimed at solving personnel issues in the most pressing areas. On the one hand, the market itself formulates a request, as a result of which new professions appear at the intersection of existing ones (for example, a data journalist or a science artist) and educational tracks are corrected.
