Dr. Tarek Elgawhary ( @MakingSenseofIslam ) of Making Sense of Islam and Sameera Qureshi (@sexualhealthformuslims) have launched a collaboration series, to answer the most common questions Muslims have about their sexual health.

This week, we’re exploring the topic of a lack of sexual intimacy within Muslim marriages. Why do some Muslim couples struggle with sexual intimacy in marriage? And what are the Islamic perspectives on this topic?

Dr. Tarek Elgawhary has spent the last 25 years journeying to and through numerous universities in North America (including Princeton where he obtained his PhD in Islamic studies) as well as several centers of Sunni learning throughout the Muslim world, most notably al-Azhar seminary in Cairo where he completed most of his training. Tarek is a vital community speaker and resource not only in the DC-Maryland-Virginia community, and also around the world.
