Hard credit credit pulls will lower your credit score.

These types of pulls usually happen when you're looking to buy a car, and the car company pulls your credit reports to check your eligibility.

Soft credit pulls do not affect your credit score.

Even though it doesn't affect your score, it has to be done legally.

If someone pulls your reports without your knowledge, that's illegal.
