Code-switching vs. Translanguaging: Difference and Ideological Implications.

It has become common sense for polyglots to assume they are "switching" between "languages" whenever they move from, say, Japanese to Italian, during the course of a conversation. But what if I told you that this is an illusion, and a dangerous one? And that there is an alternative approach, known as "translanguaging", that is both more accurate and empowering?
