By Caitlin Conrad/KTVL.comASHLAND, Ore -- Crews doing wildfire prevention in the Ashland watershed were slowed down this week when they found their equipment sabotaged and tagged. The graffitti read kill cops not trees, said Andrea Carlson with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. She says investigators are trying to figure out who is responsible, they also poured a liquid into the fuel tank of a log loader so it wouldn't start, she said. Neighbors up in the watershed were surprised to hear about the vandalism. They say they're thankful for the fire prevention work being done. Taffy Clarke Pelton says living on the edge of the watershed has always made her concious of fire danger. The fact that they're talking care of business [] that gives me a certain level of confidence, she said. Right now investigators don't have any leads in the case. Carlson says crews reported no past problems and no idea who migh be a suspect.
