Diffusion Models Lecture 1 : Intro to Variational Auto Encoders and ELBO

This lecture is a part of a youtube course on Diffusion Models (   • Diffusion Models  ) .
In this lecture we review the ideas of variational auto encoder and Evidence Lower Bounds. These ideas form the main concept behind diffusion models as well. The reference is the following tutorial by Calvin Luo :-

About the instructor :

Dhiraj Madan is an advisory Research scientist (  / dhiraj-madan-68208652  ) at IBM Research India where he works on machine learning and quantum computing. He has published at multiple venues in AI including NeurIPS, IJCAI , EMNLP e.t.c. He actively gives talks on several subtopics of quantum computing and Machine Learning.

Prior to this he graduated from IITD with a Bachelors and Masters in CSE in 2016 and received silver medal for standing first amongst amongst the department .
