Celebrating a century of friendship

The Lhisemia of Kohima village (Angami) Kohima district and Pfutseromi village (Chakhesang) Phek district came together in unison for historic celebration of 100 years friendship between the two at Pfutseromi village in Phek district on April 27, 2022. The event was marked under the theme ‘Reviving and reaffirming the age old century friendship.’

A monolith was erected in commemoration of the ‘Friendship Feast’ held in 1922 between Lhisemia of Kohima village and Pfutseromi village, and the people rededicated themselves during this centenary celebration, renewing the friendship that “our grand fathers had foresightedly envisioned and planted.”

A plaque was jointly unveiled by Ayie Yhome, chairperson of Lhisemia Council and Lhiwepelo Ritse, chairperson of Pfutseromi Village Council.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Wepretso Mero, (Rtd) Commissioner & Secretary Nagaland, Lhisemia Council chairman Ayie Yhome, Pfutseromi Village Council chairman Lhiwepelo Ritse, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu, former chief minister, former minister Tseivilie Miachieo and Zekotso Mero, Inspector General of Police, Nagaland.

The programme was chaired by 100 years celebration Core Committee co-convener Dr Neisatuo Mero while Core Committee member Weprepe Mero led the service for unveiling of the centenary monolith.

Core Committee Secretary Mengukhrietuo Marcus Dzüvichü read out Secretary Report while vote of thanks was proposed by Core Committee member Neisalie Yhome.
