January Diacon (Ivan Honchar) was born in 1973 into a family of artists. In 1997 he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Kyiv and currently lives in the city of Nizhyn in Ukraine. After the art academy, he chose to dedicate his life to the church, and works in the fields of architecture, applied art and icon painting; he paints and restores Churches in Ukraine. He spent 10 years rebuilding the monastery in Crimea but after the Russian annexation of Crimea, he moved to Nizhyn, where he restored the ancient temple of the city. Icon painting is his profession and passion.
