In this video, we are reviewing the Xiaomi Roborock S55 - the second generation of the robot vacuum from Xiaomi. It has improved suction power of 2,000 Pa, a wet mopping function, an intelligent navigation system based on the LIDAR sensor and a three CPU system that uses SLAM algorithms to build the most efficient cleaning path. You can watch how the Roborock works in real-time using the Mi Home app. There are a lot of other useful functions in the app, such as scheduling, zoned cleaning, remote control, cleaning history and so on. The robot supports voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home smart assistances. The HEPA filter can be washed, so you don't need to replace it very often. It has 13 sensors that help the robot to detect obstacles and avoid collisions with furniture. This robot vacuum performs well on low and medium pile carpets, hardwood, laminate, and tile floors. It will be the right choice for pet owners.

The Roborock S5 Unboxing:
In the box, you will find a silicone mat that keeps your floors dry when the robot finishes mopping and is charging, English manual, a 150 ml water tank with 2 microfiber pads for mopping, an extra washable HEPA filter, a charging dock with a cable, and the Roborock S5 itself.

When opening the lid, you will see a 500 ml dustbin and a cleaning tool sitting near. Inside the dirtbox, there is a HEPA filter that can be washed with water and meant to last longer than a non-washable filter.

Underneath a pair of large wheels that can climb a 20 mm obstacle, and a cleaning brush.

The Roborock S5 has 14 sensors that help the robot to maneuver including a wall sensor. The wall sensor keeps the vacuum from the wall at a 2 cm distance.

Roborock S5 performance:
With a 10 cm body, the S5 can fit under most furniture. On top of the vacuum, a tower houses an LDS laser that scans the surroundings to build a map of the cleaning area.

We tested the robot climbing a 15 mm (0.6 in) obstacle, and the cleaner had passed it flawlessly.

In the Mi Home app, you can control the robot's movements using the remote control thought buttons or joystick depending on which method you like more; make the Roborock work within a particular zone by drawing a rectangle on the map, check cleaning history, set blocked zones, etc.

In the first test on carpet, we created zoned cleaning and used oats; the vacuum handled cleaning in two cycles. Also, we used flour which the S5 successfully removed as well.

The Roborock S5 makes about 55 dB of noise and is not as loud as other powerful robot vacuums on the market.

On bare flooring, we scattered oats and small pieces of paper.

It took 15 minutes to remove the debris on a 10 square meters area. In the first cycle, the S5 managed to get rid of about 98% of pieces. With three processors inside, you can watch the Roborock S5 in real-time.

In mopping mode, the robot follows the same back-in-forth pattern when navigates. It does sweeping and mopping at the same time, so you don't need to vacuum floors before using the water tank.
