TRT World interview with professor Sean Connolly from the team of scientists behind the study from James Cook University in Australia.

Australian scientists have said that damage to the Great Barrier Reef is irreversible. It's rapidly shrinking - and will continue to do so - as the effects of climate change worsens.

Warmer sea temperatures threaten the delicate balance of the reef's ecosystem. A third of coral in the Great Barrier Reef have already been damaged, due to a process called bleaching. The scientists are once again calling for an urgent global action to curb climate change.
