What was hygiene like during the Industrial Revolution?

The first Industrial Revolution in England, which lasted roughly from 1750 to 1850, laid the groundwork for the modern world. Increased textile output, steam and coal power, and improved metallurgy all contributed to significant economic growth and a population explosion in the United Kingdom during this period. Later in the nineteenth century, it extended to the United States, altering both society and commerce.

However, there was a darker side to the Industrial Revolution that was transferred across the pond: horrible working conditions, slum dwellings, rampant disease, and a lack of government intervention. There were no hygiene or health practices guidelines. Medical care was unavailable to individuals who could not pay for it. Factory life was a living misery, and city streets were clogged with trash. It was a difficult period to be a working-class person.
