If your medical condition requires urgent attention, especially during the night or weekend, and you cannot wait for a doctor’s appointment, but at the same time, you don’t have a real emergency, you should consider visiting an Urgent Care facility, which welcome walk-in patients. Urgent Care facilities typically have extended hours and some of them are open on weekends too.

You can reduce your wait time at the Urgent Care; it may be worthwhile to check that a particular Urgent Care allows online check in.

Of course, if the Urgent Care determines that you have an emergency that they cannot handle themselves, they may ask you to go to the emergency room or in extreme situations, call the ambulance on your behalf that would take you to the emergency room of the hospital.

If you are not sure whether you should go to Urgent Care or an emergency room for your situation, use your best judgment.
