We asked the waitress if this was the original Cheers Bar and she said the following.
The producers were looking for a place to base their new show. They went to different bars around the country to find an atmosphere that appealed to what they were tyring to duplicate in a show.
They ended up voting on the CHEERS in Boston, where the TV show CHEERS ended up being modeled after. She didn't come out and say YES or NO that it was filmed there. I assume No.

So, the Original CHEERS bar is modeled after the Cheers in Boston (there are 2 there now - the other is in Quincy Market).

It was pretty cool and the food was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was OUTSTANDING or anything. It was mostly an atmosphere experience. Prices were moderate-high for lunch. Ie. Hamburger meal was about $12.
