This control voltage is usually provided by the thermostat. The control voltage wires are connected to the coil terminals, which are commonly labeled as A1 and A2.

Thermostat/Control Wiring: The control wires from the thermostat or control system are connected to the A1 and A2 coil terminals. When the thermostat calls for cooling, it sends a signal to energize the coil, which closes the contacts within the contactor.

Load (Compressor) Connections: The load side of the contactor, which carries power to the air conditioning compressor, is connected to the T1 and T2 terminals. These terminals are the load-side connections.

Overload Protection: Typically, there's an overload protection device, such as a thermal overload relay, connected in series with one of the load lines. This device helps protect the compressor from overheating and excessive current draw.

Grounding: It's important to ensure proper grounding for safety reasons. The contactor's metal body is often connected to the grounding system.

When the control voltage is applied to the coil terminals (A1 and A2), the electromagnetic field generated by the coil pulls the contacts together, closing the circuit between the line terminals (L1 and L2) and the load terminals (T1 and T2).

This allows the main power supply to flow to the compressor and other components of the air conditioning system, such as fans and other motors.

When the control voltage is removed, the coil de-energizes, and the contacts spring back to their open position, interrupting the power flow to the compressor and turning off the system.
