Casein Painting in the Landscape - Goonhilly Downs Cornwall

It was a beautiful late August evening and I thought - why not try some casein painting in the landscape at Goonhilly Downs on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall.

I had a limited palette of Cadmium Red, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Ivory Black and Titanium White. I tacked a sheet of 640gsm Khadi cotton rag paper to a drawing board and it was time to go.

Basil came along for the evening, had a nice walk and enjoyed snoozing in the evening sun.

This was a fun sketching session with the casein paints. I found the paper was a bit too textured for my techniques but it held up well, with lots of water being thrown onto it.
